Dr. Atul Wad, PhD is the President and co-founder of Tambourine Innovation Ventures,[1] an innovation consultancy firm in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. Dr. Wad has worked on issues including sustainability, entrepreneurship, technology management, inclusive innovation, and business strategy, throughout his career as an academician, businessman, and endeavors in international development.[2] Dr. Wad has held positions at multiple institutions, having served as the Scientific Affairs Officer at the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development.[3] There he pioneered the Advanced Technology Alert System, alongside luminaries such as Ernst von Weizsäcker and Aklilu Lemma. Atul has also authored multiple books[4] and book chapters[5] in the field of Intellectual Property and Innovation.

Early Life and Education

Dr. Atul Wad was born in Mumbai, India. He did his primary schooling from Cathedral and John Connon School, Dr. Wad later received his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He followed his studies at the Kellogg School of Management, where he obtained an M.S. and PhD in Organization Behavior, where he would later return in a professorial and directorial capacity.

Career

Dr. Wad's career has spanned across thirty years, in more than 25 countries, ranging from leadership positions in the private sector, not-for-profits, academia, International financial institutions, international organizations, and the venture capital industry. Dr. Wad's career has included roles, such as serving as the advisor to the Mexican Association for Incubators and Technology Parks (AMIEPAT);[6][7] Faculty at CENTRIM, University of Brighton; Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University; the IIT Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Chicago; the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán|Autonomous University of Yucatán, Mexico; IIT Bombay; and the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He was also a Visiting Fellow at Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and SPRU, University of Sussex. At Columbia's Water Center of the Earth Institute he focused on issues such as the Water, energy and food security nexus and other sustainability issues within the context of climate change. Atul has published on various disciplines including technology management,[8] inclusive innovation,[9] strategy and cross-cultural business.
