Angela Su is an American self-taught artist best known for her abstract expressionist works. Her paintings have been exhibited nationally and she has also won several accolades for her commendable work, which include the Talent Prize Award, Crystal Award, and Artist of the Month 2021.[1]
Early life and education
Angela is a self-taught abstract expressionist artist born in 1990. She is based in Southern California, United States. As a child, Angela drew characters from television shows such as Disney and Power Rangers, as well as wrote and illustrated piles of half-finished books. She also made doodles of her parents and portraits of her aunties and uncles. After many years of soul-searching, she finally realized her deep connection with art and began abstract painting in 2021. Angela has been drawing since childhood and won her first award in grade school.
Career
Angela spent over a decade in the automotive industry before she realized her passion for art. It took her years to understand what she truly wanted to pursue. Her life underwent a turning point when she met someone in the creative industry, which inspired her to contemplate a different kind of pursuit.[2]
Angela eventually felt called to pursue what she loved as a child. It was on New Year’s Eve 2021 that she decided to start drawing. Her father, who had been an oil painter, helped her to navigate her path towards abstract art. With his guidance, Angela began abstract painting in January 2021.[3]
Today, Angela is a nationally recognised artist who specializes in abstract expressionist paintings using acrylic paints. She has taken part in a number of group exhibitions throughout Europe including Germany, Italy, London, and Spain. Angela has also showcased her art in a virtual solo exhibition at Art Show International Gallery, Los Angeles, California.[4]
