Angélique Gérard (Angélique Berge) was born in 1975 in the commune of Fontainebleau in the metropolitan area of Paris. Currently, she is a director of customer relations of the French telecommunications group Iliad (Free & Free Mobile) and member of the executive board of its holding company.[1]


Gérard is an alumna of the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD).[2] She studied at HEC Paris and Multi-médias Institute, where she trained to become a business manager.[3]

Professional Career

After graduation, she worked for four years at France Télécom. At the end of 1999, she joined Iliad Group. There, she created its first customer contact centers and laid the foundation of its internalization strategy.[4]

She is the president and executive director of 9 Iliad-owned subsidiaries, namely Centrapel (since 2000), Total Call (since 2005), Resolution Call (since 2010), and Equaline, Certicall, Mobipel, Qualipel and MCRA (since 2011). She was also the manager of Memdis (2003-2006).[5]

Gérard is in charge of supervising the process of recruiting, training, managing and overseeing the work of a team of more than 6,500 employees on a daily basis.[6]

Gérard created a hub for developers within the company who digitized personnel files and developed gaming programs. These programs assist staff’s physical and digital personal development. [7] Angélique Gérard also launched the "Face To Free" contact channel in 2015, making it possible to humanize the after-sales service through a digital channel.

In addition, she is an honorary chairwoman of the Association of Free’s Users (AdUF).

In 2013, Angélique Gerard was recognized by Institute Choiseul for International Politics and Geoeconomics.[8]

She was also featured on the front page of the 104th edition of the bimonthly Relation Client magazine in the summer of 2013.[9]

Angélique is on Le Figaro Magazine’s lists of "The 100 economic leaders of tomorrow" and the top 10 French digital leaders, according to the 2014 ranking.[10]

In March 2015, Angélique Gérard succeeded Emmanuel Macron in heading the Choiseul ranking, as one of the 100 leaders of the French economy under the age of 40. [11][12]

Angélique Gérard is identified among the most influential 300 French personalities and has joined the Top 40 Inspiring People in Forbes’ list in 2020. [13]

Professional Activities

Angélique Gérard is a member of Gust, FundMe and the Business Angels Club of the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD).[14]

As Europcar prepares to launch its initial public offering (IPO), Angélique Gérard joins the International Group's Supervisory Board as an independent director alongside, to name a few, Jean-Paul Bailly, CEO of Groupe La Poste, Pascal Bazin, former CEO of Avis Europe, and Sandy Miller, former Chairman of Budget Group and the American Car Rental Association (ACRA).[15]


The jury of the European Conference on Calling and Customer Relations Centers (SECA) had honored the ‘Centrapel’ – ‘Total Call’ groups with the ‘Coup de Coeur award’ in 2005, both the ‘Casque de Bronze’ and the ‘Coup de Coeur’ awards in 2006, as well as the ‘Casque d’Or’ in 2007 for best market social practices.[16]

In 2012, just 3 months after the launch of its mobile offers and generating 3 million subscribers in just one quarter, Gerard’s teams won the first prize in the mobile phone customer relations league tables’ (TNS Sofres).[17]

On October 5, 2015, Angélique Gérard received the ‘Palme de l'expérience Client’ award for ‘Free’ operator. This award honors the innovative efforts put in providing better customer service for ‘Face to Free’, among other things. Such a new service was launched at the beginning of 2015 and enabled the subscribers of ‘Free’ to receive the required assistance by the intermediary of a webcam through the FreeHelper. That same evening, Gerard received the ‘Palme d'Or’ award for best Client Director.[18]

On December 7, 2015, the jury of the third edition of the ‘Leadership Award’ granted Gérard the ‘2015 Leadership Hope Award’.[19]

On May 11, 2016, Angélique Gérard’s teams were acclaimed for their responsible management and strategy, which evolved around placing employees at the center of the company. They followed the co-management pattern, in order to improve the collective well-being focusing on the principle of attentions’ symmetry, which earned them the ‘Feel Good Management Award.[20]

Angélique Gérard was awarded the ‘Femme du Numérique 2016’ (The 2016 Digital Woman), a prize granted by the ‘Usine Nouvelle,’ a business magazine, September 2016 issue cover.[21]

In October 2015, Angélique Gérard's teams were ranked second and awarded the ‘Palme Expérience Collaborateur’ by the AFRC and the ‘Relation Client’ magazine.[22]

By a decree of the President of the Republic dated November 14, 2016, Angélique Gérard received the Cross of Knight of the National Order of Merit.[23]
