Andy Hopper is a Conservative activist in Texas since 2020.[1] He and his wife Amanda are the co-founders of Wise County Conservatives, a group dedicated to connecting, educating, and activating local activists. [2] Hopper is also a writer for Conservative news outlet Texas Scorecard. [3][4] In 2021, Andy was in the headlines for calling out the leftist infiltration of the Texas State Guard. [5][6]

Electoral History

Andy Hopper ran for election to the Texas House of Representatives to represent District 64.[7][8][9] He narrowly lost in the Republican primary on March 1, 2022, by 88 votes.[10][11][12] The race was so tight that there was a recount [13] and at one point, it was "too close to call". [14] A top priority of Hopper's during his campaign was border security.[15][16]

Hopper announced his candidacy for Texas House District 64 on June 5, 2023.

Early life, education, and career

Andy was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. He moved to Texas at the age of twenty to begin his career in software engineering.

Andy earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from Ohio University in 1997 and earned a Master's of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of North Texas in 2000. Hopper’s career experience includes working as an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas, as well as the telecommunications and defense industries. He currently owns a small software consulting firm and a small farm in Wise county. [17][17]

Family

Andy and his wife Amanda were high school sweethearts who met in the honors chemistry class. They married when they were twenty years old, on the same day that Andy graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Andy skipped the graduation because Hillary Clinton was the key-note speaker. [1]

The couple has three children: Grant, Sam, and Ian, who were homeschooled. [18] The Hoppers currently live on a small farm in Decatur, Texas.
