Andrew Stone is an American college baseball coach and former player, who is currently an assistant baseball coach for the Michigan State Spartans. He played college baseball at Western Michigan for head coach Billy Gernon from 2015 to 2019.[1] He then served as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for Kalamazoo College baseball team until 2021.

Early Years

Stone was raised in Portage, Michigan, and attended high school at Portage Northern High School, where he played basketball and baseball. In his high school baseball career, Stone was a member of back-to-back district championship teams and a conference championship. His senior year, he was named to the Big 16 All West Division Team and was ranked No. 241 in the state of Michigan after batting .336 with a .457 on-base percentage.[1]

Playing Career

Stone played college baseball at Division I Western Michigan from 2015-2019, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management in 2018, and his master’s degree from WMU, also in sports management in 2019.[2]

In 2015, he redshirted his first season for the Broncos. Stone finished out his career with a .304 batting avg. and .402 on-base percentage in 434 collegiate at bats.[1] As a player, Stone won a MAC Tournament title and appeared in a NCAA Regional in 2016.[2]

Coaching Career

On Aug. 23, 2021, Jake Boss Jr. announced that Andrew Stone has joined the Spartan staff as the volunteer assistant coach.[3][4] In his two years at MSU, Stone has helped the coaching staff lead the Spartans to a 57-52 record in the last two seasons. In 2023, the Spartans finished the season with 33 wins and a Big Ten Tournament Appearance, the first 30+ win season since 2016.[5]
