Anas Ibrahim Al-Dogheim (Arabic language: أنس إبراهيم الدُّغيم; born 8 July 1979) is a Syrian poet and writer. He published his first book in 2002 until the events of the Syrian crisis erupted in 2011, which was a turning point in his literary life.[1][2][3][4]

Biography

Al-Doghiem was born in the town of Jarjnaz in the Maarat al-Numan in Idlib, and grew up there in a middle-class family consisting of 14 members. He studied in the schools of his hometown, then joined the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Damascus University, but he did not complete his studies. He completed his higher studies in Jordan since 2004, where he obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Philadelphia University in 2008.

After graduating, he returned to his homeland, and worked in pharmacy for two and a half years, then joined the Syrian Armed Forces in compulsory service and was a lieutenant, and his service began in early 2011. Then he defected from the Syrian army. In the tenth month of the same year, during the Syrian crisis, he returned to his village.

Anas Al-Dogheim's the head of the founding body of the Syrian Pharmacists Syndicate, and an Internet activist who supports what is believed to be the Syrian revolution.

He began composing poetry in the secondary stage of his studies, especially in political literature. He published his articles and poems in many Arabic websites. In its beginnings, he participated in the First Generations Literary Festival for Poetry and Short Story in Aleppo in 2011, and won first place in the third generation for his poem "Anas Namah"[5]. Then he participated in many domestic and international festivals in the Arab countries and his homeland.[6]

He also worked as an official for some literary festivals, and on the jury of poetry competitions. He is a member of the World Islamic Literature Association.

In August 2015, a poetic argument took place between him and Dhahi Khalfan Tamim on Twitter.[7][8][9]

  • Al-Judy (2021) [11] Anas Al-Dogheim was influenced by the poet Muhammad Iqbal in his poetry collection "Exile", where he "reflected the pain of the refugees of the Syrian civil war in Turkey, mixed migration and pain[12]." In his poetry collection "Exile" entered into social and humanitarian issues related to the Syrian civil war ceasefires, but his poem called Exile overshadowed the rest until he named it his poetry.[13]
