Alptekin Aydin (born 24 May 1973) is a British-Turkish specialist psychologist & Certified TMS Practitioner who is interested in Neuromodulation Interventions.[1] His academic and professional qualification include both undergraduate and postgraduate in psychology. (Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) King's College London). He also undertake medico-legal work and hold The Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) Expert Witness Civil Certificate.(2022) For functional brain mapping, he has QEEG Certificate & Advanced EEG Interpretation Certificate. He has the member of following bodies, British Psychological Society (BPS), Member of The British Neuroscience Association (29905087), full member of British Association for Psychopharmacology & International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP).[2]

Aydin is known for being the first Turkish Psychologist in London to complete the European TMS Clinical Certification Course. Aydin is regarded for encouraging the application of innovative rTMS treatments that incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to offer the quickest solutions for mental health conditions without any medication side effects.[3]

Aydin has over two decades’ experience as a specialist psychologist and has dealt with numerous cases of trauma, both acute & chronic, panic attack & anxiety disorder, depression, OCD, PTSD, substance misuse & related psychological issues.[4]

Early life and education

Aydin was born on 24 May, 1973 in Moda, Istanbul. He completed his primary education from Moda Primary School and then graduated from Kenan Evren High School. Later Aydin enrolled in the Istanbul University, where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

After his graduation, Aydin went to King's College London to pursue Addiction Studies at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN). Aydin is pursuing a TMS Clinical Certification from the Maastricht University in Netherlands and a Neuroscience certificate from Harvard University.

Career

Aydin, in 2014, was an assistant psychologist at Beresford Project Alcohol service for two months. In 2015 he joined Redcard Gambling Support as a Gambling Therapist, where he worked for over four years. During his time there, he used to help people with a gambling habit with his Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, and Existential Therapy.

Aydin is also the director of Cosmos Healthcare & Beauty Limited and presently works as an Addiction Specialist Psychologist in Southgate, London. Aydin practices Mora Bioresonance Therapy and also undertakes medico-legal work in his private practice. Aydin helps his patients overcome addiction and also offers his services as a medical practitioner to help them with memory personality, suggestibility, alcohol & substance addiction, post-traumatic stress, depression, emotional functioning, risk & psycho-pathology. During his career, Aydin worked for over three years to diagnose Autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and Learning Disorders.

Aydin at his private clinic administers and interprets a vast range of tests covering the assessment and therapy for children, adults, and minority ethnic groups. Aydin at his clinic has Magstim Horizon ® TMS Therapy systems and MagVenture TMS Therapy the MagPro R30 system, which are considered as the leading TMS systems globally.

Aydin is known for his combined treatment method that incorporates transcranial magnetic stimulation, (TMS), Bioresonance therapy (Quantum frequency technology) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). It is a drug free, painless treatment method that is applied on the neurons in the brain, and helps in curing depression, obsession, stress and anxiety of the patients. With this method, Aydin has helped several people battling with substance abuse such as alcohol, cannabis, cocaine, crack, and all kinds of substance addiction.

Aydin is also a research software engineer and is the developer of the iPhone application called The Alcohol Intoxication Monitor (AIM). AIM is designed to incorporate the recording of alcohol consumption and BAC Level (blood alcohol concentration) in the user. It also has a Geographic Information System (GIS) to place drinking in location, time, and recurrence and includes measures of subjective intoxication and mood state with a short version Profile of Mood States (POMS). Aydin also gave a presentation of his application at the Emerging Methods in Addiction Research Conference in 2015.

Awards

Aydin is the recipient of the 2020 Best Turkish specialist psychologist in Europe -international summit award. In 2021, he was awarded as advanced practitioner by The Federation of Drug & Alcohol Professions body.[5]
