Allen Don McCloskey (born 1981) is a former delegate to the California State Democratic Party, representing California's 2nd State Assembly district, and former candidate for the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors in the 2019 election.

Saint Joseph Healthcare Unionization and Protests

McCloskey, as a lab assistant at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Eureka, California took part in the unionization of Saint Joseph Hospital and Redwood Memorial Hospital prior to the hospitals' acquisition via a merger by Providence Health & Services.[1] After the merger, the National Union of Healthcare Workers and the California Nurses Association declared a staffing emergency at both hospitals.[2][3][4] McCloskey was a critic of staffing issues at the hospital, and an advocate for patient rights and the preservation of outlying medical clinics.[5][6]

Political Career

McCloskey represented the California Democratic Party as a 2nd State Assembly district delegate. In 2016 he was a candidate for city council in Eureka, California.[7][8][9] In 2019, he ran for First District Supervisor in Humboldt County.[10][11] He withdrew from political campaigning due to allegations of fraud made against him.[12][13][14][15]

Legal Issues

In 2021, McCloskey was arrested at his home in Humboldt County after authorities discovered stolen property. He was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition as a prohibited person. In a separate case, McCloskey was convicted of grand theft in Shasta County in 2025.[16] McCloskey has also been accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Scott Valley Band of Pomo Indians during his tenure as an administrator for the tribe.[15]
