Alexei (Alex) Jawdokimov (1937- September, 2019) was a Russian-born British actor, known for Firefox (1982), The Eagle Has Landed (1976) and Defense of the Realm (1986).[1] He was also a painter, illustrator and professional dancer. He was trained at Somerset College of Art in Taunton and became known for his landscapes as well as for his Edwardian and Victorian London scenes.[2]
Jawdokimov was born in Smolensk, Soviet Union. He arrived in England with his mother in 1947 as World War II refugees, having survived the holocaust.[3] They settled in Somerset and, in 1958, he moved to London where he formed the Russian Cossack Dance Company.[4] He spent the final years of his life in Stroud, Glocestershire.
As an actor, he appeared on film and television, starring alongside Michael Cain and Sean Connery.[5]
