Alexander "Alex" Berkett is an American business executive. He has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Development and Strategy Officer of Paramount Global (formerly ViacomCBS) since February 2022. He was a co-founder of Townsquare Media, a local media company, which is the third-largest radio stations owner in the United States.

He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania[1].

In 2009, Berkett co-founded FiveWire Media, a predecessor to Townsquare Media, a company which he co-founded in 2010 with Steven Price (businessman), Stuart Rosenstein, Dhruv Prasad, and Scott Schatz. Berkett served as Executive Vice President of Townsquare Media, where he was responsible for corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, legal affairs, business development, corporate communications, and all capital raising activities, including the company’s 2014 IPO.[1] Berkett left Townsquare Media in 2015.[2]

In 2015, Berkett joined Viacom as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development.[3] Upon the completion of the Viacom/CBS Merger, Berkett assumed the role of Executive Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy of the combined company.[4][5] He was named to Hollywood Reporter’s Top 20 Dealmakers of 2020 list. In February 2022, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Development and Strategy Officer of ViacomCBS.[6]

During his time at Viacom and ViacomCBS, Berkett has played a leading role in Viacom and CBS’ 2019 Mergers and acquisitions, the acquisitions of Pluto TV, Telefe, a controlling stake in Miramax, the formation of the SkyShowtime joint venture with Comcast, the formation of the BET+ joint venture with Tyler Perry, and the pending disposition of Simon & Schuster, the CBS Studio Center, CBS Building, and CNET among other transactions.[6]

Berkett is married (Taryn) with two children.[1]
