Aggressor Adventures is an adventure travel brand, founded in 1984 by Paul Haines and Wayne Hasson as a scuba diving tour. The company now includes liveaboard scuba diving, safaris and river cruises.
History
Aggressor Adventures began operations 1984 as Aggressor Fleet.[1]
In the 1980s, Louisiana's oil industry collapsed[2]. In 1984, Paul Haines, an oil-crew-boat owner and frequent scuba diver, began retrofitting an oil boat to become a dive yacht. Haines hired scuba instructor Wayne Hasson as captain.
In 1987, another oil-crew boat was retrofitted and began trips in the lower Caribbean and Belize. From there, the company continued to add more ships in more locations as the company grew.[3]
In 2007, Wayne B. Brown purchased the company and sold a minority share to Hasson[4]. In 2008, Brown also bought the Dancer Fleet to merge with Aggressor, [3] making it the largest franchise in liveaboards. [5]
In 2018, the company expanded with the Aggressor Safari Lodges and Aggressor River Cruises. The safari lodge opened in March in Sri Lanka[6] and the Aggressor Nile Queen started operating between Luxor and Aswan, Egypt in September. [7]
In 2019, Aggressor was featured on "Born to Explore with Richard Wiese," on PBS.[8]
Aggressor President Wayne Hasson passed away in January 2020 from renal cell cancer.[9]
