Advocate Anik (born 1984), whose full name is A. M. Iktear Uddin, is an Indian lawyer, cybercrime expert, and co-founder of the law firm Prime Legal. Known professionally as Advocate Anik, he is a recognized legal advisor to multiple startups and serves as a Special Public Prosecutor in Karnataka. Over the years, he has gained attention for handling high-profile cases related to cybercrime, financial fraud, and criminal litigation across India.[1]

Early Life and Education

Advocate Anik was born in a village in Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal. His mother, Nanda (later known as Shanaz Parvin alias Anwara), passed away in 1986, shortly after his birth. His father, Abdul Jalil, also died when Anik was still young. Raised with exposure to both Muslim and Hindu traditions, Anik developed a strong appreciation for cultural diversity.

In 1999, he moved to Bangalore. He completed his 10th grade in 2001, followed by a Pre-University Course until 2003. He pursued a five-year LL.B program at Bangalore University, graduating in 2008, and went on to earn an LL.M in Business and Corporate Law from University Law College (ULC), Bangalore University, securing a First Class and 2nd rank in 2010.

Legal Career

Advocate Anik began his legal career in 2006 by supporting a law firm in Malleswaram. During this period, he also co-founded Legal Troubleshooting with Ayantika Mondal, his classmate and future spouse, focusing on property verifications and data protection laws.

He later worked with Deshraj and PC Reddy Chambers in Gandhi Nagar, Bangalore, and in 2012 joined Dell India Pvt Ltd as a Legal Associate. Although Prime Legal was initially established in 2009, it became a more active venture when Anik returned full-time in 2019 after working as Associate Director (Legal) at ANI Technologies Pvt Ltd (Ola Cabs) and its affiliates including Ola Fleet, Foodpanda, and Ola Money.

Currently, he provides legal counsel to numerous startups across sectors such as fintech, transportation, employment, and talent acquisition. He regularly represents clients in High Courts and legal forums throughout India and leads legal strategy in major investigations, including those involving the Enforcement Directorate (ED), CBI, and state cybercrime units.
