Adrian James Campbell (born 1989), also known as AJ Campbell, is an Australian entrepreneur. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Kinnara Limited, a Hong Kong-registered online property marketplace, and the chairman and co-founder of iQuant Fund Ltd, an artificial-intelligence trading technology company. He is also a managing partner of First Nations Mining Australia (FNMA), a majority First Nations-owned mineral exploration company operating in Western Australia.[1][2]
Campbell has been based in Indonesia and Southeast Asia for approximately 15 years. His business interests have included property, hospitality, digital marketing, financial technology and mineral exploration.[3]
Early life
Campbell was born in 1989 in Shepparton, Victoria, a regional city in the Goulburn Valley of northern Victoria, Australia. He grew up in Shepparton before moving to the Gold Coast, Queensland, and subsequently to Bali, Indonesia.
Campbell speaks Indonesian and has conducted much of his business activity in Indonesia and other parts of Southeast Asia.
Career
Early ventures
Campbell began his business career in the solar-energy sector. From 2008 to 2012 he was associated with International Solar Solutions on Australia's Gold Coast.
From 2011 to 2014, Campbell owned Troppo Zone Puri Rama Resort in Kuta, Bali. During his ownership, he refurbished the resort's 88 rooms and employed approximately 80 local staff. He subsequently sold the property and, from 2014, managed a portfolio of short-term rental villas in Bali.
In 2015, Campbell founded ChimpLinks, a Bali-based Wi-Fi marketing company. The service was designed to allow hotels, restaurants, bars and other businesses to use guest Wi-Fi logins as a marketing channel. The company continues to operate.[4]
Kinnara
Campbell founded Kinnara Limited in 2021. Registered in Hong Kong, the company operates an online property-listing and marketing platform, which launched in 2023.[5]
According to Kinnara, more than 15,000 property agents use its platform across 44 countries. The company describes itself as a property marketplace and marketing platform rather than a property developer.[6]
Kinnara Capital
Kinnara Capital is a separate property-development business established in 2024. It consists of Kinnara Capital Limited in Hong Kong and PT Kinnara Capital Indonesia. The companies share substantially the same shareholders as Kinnara Limited, but neither company owns the other.
Kinnara Capital's flagship development is Saraya Beach Resort & Residences, a planned beachfront resort and residential development in Sekotong, West Lombok. The project is planned to comprise 154 villas together with two restaurants, a beach club, a spa and a gym.[7]
iQuant Fund
Campbell co-founded iQuant Fund in February 2021 and serves as its chairman. The company develops machine-learning models for systematic equity research and trading.
iQuant Fund has participated in the AWS Activate and NVIDIA Inception startup programmes. In August 2024, the company announced the completion of a Series A funding round.
First Nations Mining Australia
Since 2021, Campbell has served as managing partner of First Nations Mining Australia (FNMA), a majority First Nations-owned mineral exploration company based in Western Australia.
FNMA works with the Yindjibarndi people and the community of Roebourne in the Pilbara region. The company has stated that its objective is to support the retention of mining rights and economic participation by traditional land owners.
Community work
Kinnara Capital has conducted community days in villages surrounding its land holdings in Buwun Mas and Sekotong in West Lombok. The company has also donated supplies and equipment to local schools.
Legal proceedings
In 2026, Campbell commenced proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia against McIntyre in a matter titled Campbell v McIntyre (file number QUD 273 of 2026). The proceeding concerns allegations including misleading or deceptive conduct under the Australian Consumer Law and claims for damages for defamation arising from online publications concerning Campbell.
On 21 May 2026, the Court granted an interim injunction in Campbell v McIntyre [2026] FCA 708. The injunction was subsequently discharged on 20 August 2026 in Campbell v McIntyre (No 2) [2026] FCA 1279.
As of October 2026, the proceeding remains ongoing. The allegations and claims made by the parties have not been finally determined by the Court.[8]
