Abhishek Upadhyay is an Indian journalist and media personality. He is an editor at TV9 Bharatvarsh. Before this, Abhishek has worked in Indian media houses like India TV, IBN7, Amar Ujala and others.

Early life and education

Upadhyay was born in a middle class family in Basti, Uttar Pradesh.

Career

Upadhyay's first job was Amar Ujala where he worked for almost an year in year 2003-2004. He joined IBN7 Hindi News channel in 2005 as senior special correspondent and worked for about 5 years and 6 months before joining Dainik Bhaskar in 2011. In 2013, he was back in TV industry as an editor in India TV.[1] Later, he joined TV9 Bharatvarsh as an editor in 2018.

Reception

Ramnath Goenka Award

Abhishek Upadhyay is a recipient of Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards award.[2] He got this award in Business and Economic Journalism - Broadcast category[3] for his story that was aired on IBN7.

Controversies

An FIR was registered against Abhishek Upadhyay by another journalist Sakshi Joshi for allegedly asacinate her character using facebook post. She also alleged Abhishek of citing misleading information about her and her husband Vinod Kapri. Later, a cross FIR was filed by Abhishek accusing the couple of CARA rules and Juvenile Justice Act violations.[4]

Personal life

Abhishek is married to Madhupriya Singh. The couple has one daughter.
