Abd Al Razaq Al-Hilali Born in Basra in 1916, died in Baghdad in 1985[1]), is an Iraqi writer, intellectual and historian [2].
biography
Born in Basra in 1916 in the locality of Al-khandaq, he is the brother of Iraqi politician Abdul Hamid Al-Hilali. He received primary education at Al-Ashar school, completed middle school in 1933 and graduated from the teachers' house in 1936. He worked in teaching in Basra, moved to Baghdad and studied at the institute of higher education, where he was appointed to the physical education branch because there were no vacancies in other branches, then moved to the Arabic literature branch, from which he graduated in 1941, taught at the rural teachers' house in Rustamiyah and then in Abu Ghraib, and in 1943 was appointed assistant director of physical education to the Iraqi ministry of then noted unions in the ministry of labor and social affairs [2] [3]. At that time, he attended the evening law school and graduated in 1951. at that time, the Iraqi government sent him to conferences and courses on various topics, and in 1956 he was sent to a 10-week session on economic development problems held in oxford [2].
In 1947, Hilali was appointed to the royal palace and was one of the youngest to be appointed to the post until 1954, [4] [5] [6]and in June 1954 was appointed director of Iraqi radio, a position he held for 40 days [7]. In1955, he was seconded to the agricultural bank, where he was appointed deputy director-general, then director-general in 1965, and remained at the site until his retirement in 1970.[2] [4]
In 1953, he wrote the book "The dictionary of Iraq", a two-part book on various aspects of public life in Iraq from the late ottoman period to the 1950s,[8] has important writings on the history of the education sector in Iraq during the ottoman era and then in the periods of occupation and British mandate,[9]and other writings on literary, historical, political and economic topics, and the publication of poems in some newspapers, and a poetry diwan entitled "echo of the days", unprinted.[2]
he suffered kidney failure in 1977 and died in Baghdad in 1985. [2]
