A Voice From Prison is a non-profit organization that advocates for criminal justice reforms and constitutional rights in driving a positive change by raising awareness and providing resources[1]. The organization aims at promoting policy changes and educating people about the actuality of life behind the bars[2].

The organization aims at providing information and educating people through regular blog posts[3]. The blog highlights insightful information about the actualities of imprisonment and the aftereffects that the united states prison system has on the inmates' mental health[4].

History

A Voice From Prison was founded in 2021 by Tyler King[5]. Tyler King started the non-profit organization as a result of his incarceration, sentenced to six-and-a-half year imprisonment because of “conspiring to access” confidential and sensitive company information, which he considers to be an indistinct and erroneous conclusion[6].

Through the regular blog posts, Tyler aims at raising awareness about the problems that are causing continuous distress to the US criminal justice system. He shares his experience and the stories of other prisoners, highlighting the life behind the bars and its after effects[7]. The blog acts as a guiding light to reveal the violation of human rights that happens in the US justice system. Tyler shares his blogs through the use of the Bureau of Prisons TrueLinks system that facilitates him to send digital messages to friends and family. The other volunteers of the organization work on writing papers for policy changes and educating the inmates[8].

The Institute of Criminology at the University of Cambridge has conducted several interviews with the prisoners and concluded the fact that incarceration has a permanent effect on the mental health of the prisoners[9].

The organization aims at educating people about the US judicial system and providing education and training to previously released prisoners[10].

About the Founder

Tyler King is a Texas businessman and the founder and CEO of the business and management consulting firm, Assuras. He has gained significant fame and recognition for his modern techniques in addressing internal business problems. His firm specializes in lean and six sigma techniques and is known to have the best business practices[11].

Tyler King established A Voice From Prison in 2021, as a result of being a victim of a false offense, and currently serving his incarceration of six-and-a-half years because of “conspiring to access” sensitive company information[12]. He founded the organization to raise awareness by providing legal information about the various criminal justice laws and to educate released prisoners to help them fight the mental effects of imprisonment. Through the organization, Tyler aims to change the system, and create a safe place for people who are incapable of fighting false accusations[13].

Partnerships

A Voice for Prisoners has partnered with several companies to develop the courses and certifications that provide former prisoners with an opportunity to learn new skills and help them reintegrate back into society[14]. Presently the organization offers personal and professional development and entrepreneurship courses and preparatory courses in project management and lean six sigma[15].

The organization has recently partnered with Assuras, which provides the needed education and training resources to the organization[16].
