Zygmunt Maciej Galasiewicz (24 February 1926 in Lutsk – 30 October 2016 in Wrocław[1]) – polish physicist.
Biography
Studied at University of Wrocław, obtaining his Master of Science (1950) and doctorate (1956) on the basis of his dissertation „On the method of quasiparticles”, and habilitated in 1961, becoming professor in 1964. Professionally associated with the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Wrocław, where he was director in 1984-91[2].
Specialist in the field of condensed phase theory, especially quantum fluids. Distinguished, together with Jerzy Czerwonka, with the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Award[2] of the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1983. Decorated with the Commander's Cross, Order of Polonia Restituta and Medal of the Commission of National Education. In 2016 he was the recipient of the Gold Medal of the University of Wrocław.
