Zubair Imam Malik (Urdu: زبیر امام مالک born 22 August 1984) is Pakistani Philanthropist and Businessman who is serving as director of Popular Group of Industries, a multinational conglomerate involved in different sectors such as Cement, Sugar, Petroleum, Juice, Dairy, Match Box, Aseptic Packaging, Energy, Construction, Trade and Micro Finance.[1]
Early Life
Zubair completed his primary school education from Sadiq Public School, he went on to University of Glamorgan, London for his master's in marketing.
Awards
Zubair has been awarded Tamgha e Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan for his philanthropy work in its first press release.[2] he has also been appointed as Honoray Investment Counsellor of Pakistan in Angola, by the Prime Minister office of Pakistan with recommendation of Federal Board of Investment.[3][4][5] He was also appointed as Honorary Consul of South in Pakistan by the Vice President of South Sudan.[6]
Philanthropy
Zubair is running a 500 bedded hospital covering 1000 OPD’s on daily basis which functions on 95% charity totally funded by his foundation with over 15 departments namely: Department of Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, E.N.T, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Radiology, Pulmonary, Ophthalmology, dialysis center and Oncology.[7]
Apart from the Hospital, he is also running two schools on charity under the name of his beloved (late) uncle. These schools offer education from class kindergarten to grade 12 with over 2000 students receiving quality education.
Zubair has established many dispensaries, blood banks and R.O plants in various parts of Sanghar which produces 400,000-500,000 Liters of clean drinking water. These services are utilized throughout the year as they are the basic necessities for the people of interior Sindh.
During the difficult times of Covid-19 he funded over 1000 huts with electricity supplies (1 fan, 2 lights and 1 charger) in Shahdadpur, Tando Adam. Not only it is environmentally friendly but also has brought the basic need of electricity to the doorstep of those who are underprivileged.
Other than this there are numerous families whose sources of income are so limited that it barely covers their basic need of food for such families he has allotted fixed monthly ration.
He has also been awarded with title of "Son of Sindh" by FPCCI for his performance in philanthropic services.[8]
