Zijo Rizvanbegović (born in Sarajevo)[1] is Yugoslav and Bosnian singer who lives and works in Serbia. From 1992 until mid 2000s, he lived in Amsterdam[2]-Berlin[3] relation. Since 2001, he is frontman of group Valentino.

Early life

Rizvanbegović was born in Sarajevo. He graduated high school in Sarajevo and finished 3 years of Faculty of Economics, University of Sarajevo.[4] He had briefly worked in London,[5] until he founded Valentino in 1982.[3][6]

Career

In 1982, he formed the group Valentino in Sarajevo. He collected musicians gradually, while searching for a singer for a year, and after an advertisement in the "Oslobođenje" newspaper, the singer Suad Jakirlić Jaka joined the group. In the autumn of 1983,[6] they released their debut album "No.1", with the hit single "Volim te još", where female vocalist Amila Sulejmanović sings.[6] In addition to her, guests on the album included Goran Bregović, Milić Vukašinović, then the frontman of the group "Gino Banana" Srđan Jevđević, as well as Mladen Pavičić Pava, who would later achieve great success with the group Plavi orkestar.[6]

They had their first performances as a opening act for Bijelo dugme at concerts in Bosnia. They made their first appearance in Belgrade in April 1984 as guests at the Dom Sindikata|Dom sindikata at Bajaga's concert on the occasion of the publication of his debut "Pozitivna geografija".

[7]In 1985, album No.2 was released under Diskoton. The biggest hit was song "Bez tebe".[6]

Personal life

In late 2000s, he met Virdžina actress Marta Keler on the taping of Lea Kiš's show. They have son together.[7][8]

In 2004 and in 2007, Rizvanbegović participated in Serbian version of Russian Roulette aired on TV Pink.[9][10] In 2021, he participated in Ja volim Srbiju in blue team with Nele Karajlić as the captain.[11] He also participated in TV show called Na večeri kod in 2022.[12]
