TV Show Productions

Letters Alive (见字如面)

"Letters Alive" is a Chinese online streaming program which not only features multiple guests reading letters aloud but also literary and cultural experts to provide fascinating and insightful contextual knowledge bout the text. This program quickly rose to popularity due to its unique design and rich informative content, amassing 2.2 billion views one week after the release of season 2[7]. In this age of consumer curated and stereotypical variety shows that are often lacking in material, the cultural variety show, “Letters Alive” has embarked on a novel approach, one in which elevates the artistic quality of the program itself by blurring the lines of daily life with art and culture[8].

The Big History of China (隐秘的细节)

Broadcasted on Hunan TV and Youku in 2021[9], "The Big History of China" is a knowledge-based archaeological TV show that simultaneously presents a grand panorama of ancient Chinese geography but also showcases the intricate scenes of ancient life. In its first season, it focuses on the Shang and Zhou Dynasty civilizations, revealing different aspects of China through the exploration of historical details. In this show, Guan not only serves as the chief director but also participates as a guest speaker.

The Wonderful Read (一本好书)

"The Wonderful Read" is a novel book recommendation show.[10] This variety show presents the storyline of classical texts but purposely leaves out the ending, aiming to inspire audiences to finish these books on their own time.

Stage Productions

The stage plays created by Guan mainly consist of adaptations of internationally recognized literary works, including but not limited to Victor Hugo's "Les Misérables," Charlotte Brontë's "Jane Eyre," W. Somerset Maugham's "The Moon and Sixpence," Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None," Gabriel García Márquez's "Love in the Time of Cholera," Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter: A Romance, " Helene Hanff's "84, Charing Cross Road," J.D.
