Zhang Yanqi (Chinese: 张颜齐; born October 2, 1997), also known as Yoroll, is a Chinese singer, rapper, and songwriter. He gained recognition in 2019 as a contestant on the Tencent reality survival show Produce Camp 2019, finishing in 7th place and debuting as a member of the project group R1SE. Following the group’s disbandment in 2021, he pursued a solo career.
Career
Pre-debut
During middle school, Zhang Yanqi was introduced to rap music and developed an interest in it. He composed his first song in high school titled "He, She, It."
In 2017, while attending college, Zhang Yanqi participated in various underground rap competitions, winning the "三寸不烂之舌battle," the Underground 8 Mile Chongqing Championship, and ranking among the national top six, as well as the Hustle and Flow Chongqing Championship.
Before his debut, Zhang Yanqi had created songs such as "贰拾," "Don't Touch Me," and "滚出我的魔仙堡."
2019–2021: Produce Camp 2019 and R1SE
In 2019, Zhang Yanqi participated in Produce Camp 2019 (创造营2019), a reality survival show produced by Tencent Video. He finished in 7th place in the final episode, earning a spot in the temporary boy group R1SE.[1] The group was active for two years, during which Zhang Yanqi performed in music releases, variety shows, and concerts. R1SE officially disbanded on June 14, 2021, at the conclusion of their contract.[2]
2021–present: Solo activities
After R1SE disbanded, Zhang Yanqi began releasing music as a solo artist under SEVENATION and 88rising. His debut EP, EMO7, was released in July 2021, followed by SHIFT in 2022. His music combines elements of hip hop, rock, and Mandopop. In December 2023, he released his first full-length album, 上下番.
Zhang Yanqi has also recorded promotional singles and theme songs for various television shows and brand campaigns. In addition, he frequently appears on variety programs and remains active as musician and variety show artist.
Other activities
In 2023, Zhang Yanqi received a national qualification certificate for television and radio hosting (广播电视播音员主持人资格证), issued by the State Administration of Radio and Television.
