Zarna Garg is an Indian American stand-up comedian and screenwriter in New York City.

Early Life and Education

Zarna Garg was born in Mumbai in 1975. She came to America at the age of 16 after fleeing an arranged marriage. She got a Bachelors in Finance from the University of Akron and her JD from Case Western Reserve School of Law.

Family and Personal Life

In 1998 Zarna married Shalabh Garg. They have three children together and live in New York City.

Career

Zarna’s debut romantic comedy screenplay “Rearranged” won the Best Comedy Screenplay Award at the 2019 Austin Film Festival[1], and was also a 2019 Academy Nicholl Fellowships Semi-Finalist[2]. The script has been optioned by Marginal Mediaworks.[3]

Before the pandemic, Zarna performed at top comedy clubs across the country, including her show “My American Dream” at Carolines on Broadway.[4]

Since the pandemic, she’s also brought her comedy shows online and in Central Park, a move which was covered in the New York Times[5], News India Times[6], and Seema Magazine[7].

Her Instagram Live interviews with the cast of “Indian Matchmaking” were covered in ScreenRant[8][9] and racked up thousands of views after being posted on YouTube.

Her TikTok channel has over 15 million views, 1.7 million likes, and over 120k followers.
