Kunsulu Daltonovna Zakarya (July 2, 1967) is a prominent Kazakh scientist in the field of biological safety. Director General of the Research Institute of Biological Safety Problems, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology named after Al-Farabi, full member of the Academy of Natural Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.

Developer of Kazakhstan inactivated vaccine QazCovid-in (QazVac) against coronavirus infection COVID-19. Developer of technology for the production of inactivated vaccine QazCovid-in (QazVac) against coronavirus infection COVID-19.

Chairman of the Impartiality Committee of JSC "National Center for Expertise and Certification" (NatExC).

Editor-in-chief of the scientific journal "Biosafety and Biotechnology".

Honorary Professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Member of the Board of Directors of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Certified auditor according to international standards: ISO 19011:2002 – environmental management; ISO 15189:2007 – medical management; ISO 9001:2000 – quality management; OHSAS 18001:2007 – occupational safety and health management. Biography

She was born on July 2, 1967 in the working village of Karsakpai, Ulytau district, Karaganda region.

In 1995 she defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences (Almaty), in 2002 she defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences in Moscow. Studying at the International University of Venice, the course “Sustainable Development – Sustainable development". Internship at K-Water company “Hydro-infra Development & Management – Development and management of biological resources and water infrastructure” in Republic of Korea.

Father: Kaliev Dalton Zakarievich (1934-2015), graduate of the Kazakh Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Almaty, metallurgical engineer for non-ferrous and precious metals (1952-1957), chief engineer of the Karsakpai Metallurgical Plant, chief Technical Inspector of industry of the Aktobe region.

Mother: Iglikova Zhansulu Abu-Talipovna (born 1937), graduated from the Biology and Chemistry Faculty of Karaganda State University named after E.Buketov, Honored Teacher of Kazakhstan, teaching experience of more than 50 years.

Grandfather: Kaliev Zakarya Kalievich (1900-1936), graduated from the Leningrad Institute of National Economy, grain economist (1925-1931), head of the KazNarkomSnab industry group (1931-1933), participated in the fight against hunger.

Grandfather: Iglikov Abu-Talip (1889-1950), graduated from the Ural Pedagogical Institute, teacher, veteran of the Great Patriotic War.[5]

Scientific activity

Author of more than 230 scientific publications, 8 scientific and methodological manuals, 5 monographs, 32 invention patents, including 2 international patents, 10 regulatory and technical documents for the production of preventive and diagnostic drugs. Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal "Biosafety and Biotechnology".

Developer of Kazakhstani inactivated vaccine against COVID-19 coronavirus QazCovid-in (QazVac). Developer of the production technology for the inactivated QazCovid-in vaccine against COVID-19 coronavirus infection. Under the guidance of the scientist, live, subunit and two recombinant vaccines against coronavirus infection were developed.

She managed, coordinated, monitored and controlled the implementation of 10 scientific and technical programs in the field of biotechnology, biosafety and microbiology, including more than 200 scientific projects, including 22 international projects. Scientific supervisor of 3 scientific and technical programs in the field of biological safety. Co-director of the scientific and technical program "Development of a vaccine against coronavirus infection COVID-19". Winner of two World Bank competitions for technology commercialization programs.[1]

The main results of their research have been published as scientific articles in highly ranked international journals such as EClinicalMedicine by Lancet, Frontiers in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases of Poverty, Veterinary Microbiology, Tropical Animal Health and Production, Plant Protection Science and others.[6]
