Yukiko Wada (和田由紀子, Wada Yukiko, born 8 January 2002) is a professional Japanese volleyball player who resides in the outside hitter position.[1] She is a member of Japan women's national volleyball team since 2023.[2]
Career
Yukiko started playing volleyball in fourth grade because of her cousin.[3]
She was a member of the volleyball team in Kyoto Tachibana High School from 2017/18 to 2019/20.[1]
In 2019 she was selected to be a part of the Japanese roster for the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship.[4] Yukiko placed first with the U19 Japanese team and was awarded the best player of the Cornacchia World Cup 2019.[5]
She is currently competing in the V.League (Japan) as a member of JT Marvelous since 2019.[1] She participated in the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League.[6]
She gained popularity on social media[7][8][9] for scoring 32 points[10] against the United States women's national volleyball team in the preliminary round of the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League.[11]
