Younes Bendjima (born May 5, 1993) is an Algerian-born French model, actor, and former boxer.[1] He gained international recognition through his work with high-fashion brands such as Givenchy, Dior, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Burberry, as well as his widely publicized relationship with American media personality Kourtney Kardashian.[2]
Early Life and Background
Bendjima was born in Algeria and raised in Lyon, France. He comes from a multicultural background and maintains a strong connection to his Algerian heritage. His early years were spent working at his father’s restaurant, and he began boxing at the age of 11 under the guidance of his uncle, who remains his trainer. Boxing, which he has described as a spiritual and grounding practice, continues to be an important part of his life.
Career
In 2011, after relocating to New York City, Bendjima was discovered by a modeling scout and signed with Next Model Management.[3] He made his runway debut for Givenchy in 2013 and went on to walk for and model in campaigns for major luxury fashion houses including Dior, Balmain, Burberry, and Ralph Lauren.[4]
In 2020, Bendjima partnered with New Balance to release a collaborative sneaker design that received notable acclaim.[5] The same year, he founded Studio FY7, a Los Angeles-based creative agency that specializes in creative direction, art, and production.[6]
He also made appearances in media, including the Swedish spy series Agent Hamilton (2020) and a cameo in the long-running reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians (2007).[7] His name has also been linked with the Formula 1 brand, likely in a promotional or guest capacity.[8]
Personal Life
Bendjima rose to mainstream fame during his relationship with Kourtney Kardashian, which began in 2017 and ended in 2018. He previously dated British model Jourdan Dunn and is known to be a close friend of actor and musician Jaden Smith.[9]
Despite spending much of his life in France and the United States, Bendjima has spoken frequently about his pride in his Algerian roots, and his cultural and religious values remain central to his identity.[10]
