Yiannis Sarantitis (Greek: Ιωάννης (Γιάννης) Σαραντίτης, born 4 February 1972) is a Greek businessman in the fields of Shipping and Real Estate and a lawyer
He is the Honorary Consul of Norway in Greece[1] since February 2009.
Early life and education
Yiannis Sarantitis was born in Athens,Greece on 4 February 1972.
He studied LLB at the University of Buckingham and he also holds a degree of Law from the University of Athens.
He is married to Malvina Sarantitis and they have two children.
Business career
Yiannis Sarantitis was active in the Telecommunications sector and he had a joint venture with Telenor in the Balkan region. He was a member of BoD of PROMONTE GSM in the 1990’s and a member of BoD of COSMOTE MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATIONS from 2000 to 2008. He was also involved in the Cruise Industry, and was a member of BoD of FESTIVAL CRUISES from 2000 to 2004. He was also a shareholder and member of BoD of FIRST BUSINESS BANK from 2001 to 2007.
He is the founder and owner of the shipping company, W MARINE INC[2], in 2003 which operates a fleet of 13 dry bulk carrier vessels, mostly Post-Panamaxes and Kamsarmaxes.[3][4]
From 2004 to 2017 he was the Managing Partner of Sarantitis Law Firm, and is currently the major stakeholder. In 2005 he founded W Real Estate Investments S.A. which is a property holding company with diversified commercial and touristic assets.
Awards and Honours
He is the Honorary Consul of Norway in Greece since February 2009.[5]
In December 2018 he was also awarded with the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, Knight First Class.
Philanthropy
In December 2018 he became the benefactor for the construction of AEK Agia Sophia Stadium.
