Yehia Galal was an Egyptian judge who served as the head of the Illicit Gains Authority. He was actively involved in legal proceedings against former officials from the regime of President Hosni Mubarak following the Egyptian revolution of 2011. Career
As the head of the Illicit Gains Authority, Galal played a significant role in investigating and prosecuting corruption among former government officials. In October 2012, he was instrumental in remanding Fathi Sorour, a former speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, into custody pending investigation. Sorour, along with other officials from Mubarak's regime, faced allegations of illicit wealth accumulation and involvement in the suppression of the 2011 pro-democracy protests.[1][2] Under Galal's leadership, the Illicit Gains Authority conducted thorough investigations into these allegations, part of broader efforts to address corruption and human rights abuses during the Mubarak era.
