Yash Rangineni (originally Yashodhar Rao Rangineni), was born on March 11th, 1970. He hails from Telangana, India, and was born into a Velama family. His affinity for movies originated in his childhood, influenced by his grandfather and father's support of local artists[1]. He produced Telugu films like Pelli choopulu under the Big Ben Cinemas banner. The movie, featuring mostly newcomers and a debut director, starred Yash's nephew, Vijay Deverakonda, who also marked his first appearance as a lead actor. Pelli choopulu[2] shattered records in terms of return on investment, amassing 5 million US dollars worldwide[3] and enjoying a consecutive 100-day screening run in Hyderabad[4]. He was awarded the 2016 Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu, and the 2016 Nandi Award for Best Feature Film, both for the movie Pelli choopulu. Some of his other productions are ABCD American Born Confused Desi, Dear Comrade, Dorasani, and Bhaag Saale.
Early life
During the pre-independence era, Yash Rangineni's grandfather served as a Zamindar, overseeing seven villages under Kollapur Samastanam. Yash's father, Rangineni Gopal Rao, was an esteemed scholar and educator, known as one of the first graduates from the Velama community in Mahabub Nagar district. He possessed exceptional fluency in English and Urdu, fostering strong relationships with the Hyderabad Nizam's family. Yash's mother, Pramila Devi Rangineni, was a devout practitioner of Hinduism, renowned for her generosity and charitable endeavours, as well as her poetic compositions dedicated to Lord Krishna.
After completing his education at Osmania University in Hyderabad, Yash ventured to London, United Kingdom, at the age of 22 to pursue higher studies. Yash completed an MBA in Marketing & Sales and subsequently held positions as a Branch Manager at Dixons Retail, Manager at Best Buy, and Senior Manager at Dixons Carphone. Currently, he works as a clinical commissioner for England's NHS (National Health Service). Yash has been residing in London for the past 25 years with his wife, Priya Rangineni, and two daughters.
