Yana Bystrova (born 1966) is a Ukrainian painter.
Biography
Born in Kiev, Ukraine into an artists’ family, Yana Bystrova graduated from the Taras Shevchenko State Art High School (РХСШ) in Kiev after seven years of studies. She then spent six years at the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture (NAOMA), graduating with a diploma in Monumental Art. Bystova was a member of the artist group Resolute Edge of Voluntary Border for a National Post-Eclecticism from 1987 - 1990.[1][2] In 1988 she moved to Moscow with the painters Oleg Tistol, Marina Skugareva and Konstantin Reunov. There they lived and worked in the squat "Furmanny Lane", and later in 'Trehprudny Lane", where the famous "Gallery at Trehprudny Lane" was situated, founded by Konstantin Reunov and Avdey Ter-Ogan. [3] She has exhibited in Ukraine, Russia, Finland, England, France and the United States. She lives in Paris, France.[4]
Work
Bystrova works in a variety of media: painting, photography, screen printing and multimedia. Her work explores the ambiguity of perception and interpretation, principally through abstraction, subliminal and optical effects, and plein-air landscapes.[5][6]
