Wolfgang Hermann Steurer (May 11, 1913 - April 12, 1986) was a German expert on guided missiles during and after World War II. Born in Freiburg, Germany, he studied at Technische Hochschule in Stuttgart, where he received a master of science, then earned his Ph.D in 1942. From 1943 to 1945, he worked in Peenemuende, Germany, where he worked as Chief of Material Development and Testing Laboratory and helped in constructing some of the first V-2 rockets. Steurer immigrated to the United States in late 1945 as part of Operation Paperclip, where he began working with Wernher von Braun in rocketry. From 1950 to 1958, he worked in the Guided Missile Development Division/Army Ballistic Missile Agency, eventually becoming Chief of the Testing Material Laboratory in Fort Bliss, Texas. By the end of his time working as Chief of the Testing Material Laboratory, Steurer was residing in Huntsville, Alabama, but moved to California in 1958 to begin working with private industries such as Convair, General Dynamics, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He passed away on April 12, 1986 in La Canada, California.
