Winston Watkins Jr. (born c. 2006) is an American college football wide receiver for the Ole Miss Rebels of the Southeastern Conference.
Early life
Watkins was born in Fort Myers, Florida and grew up in southwest Florida. He attended IMG Academy in Bradenton before transferring to First Baptist Academy in Naples, where he recorded 61 receptions for 1,170 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior.[1]
Before his senior season, Watkins transferred to Venice High School. As a senior, he caught 94 passes for 1,151 yards and 17 touchdowns, helping Venice win the Florida Class 7A state championship. Over his high school career, he totaled 155 receptions for 2,321 yards and 30 receiving touchdowns, along with 129 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.[2]
Watkins received scholarship offers from programs including Alabama, South Carolina and Indiana, among others. On December 4, 2024, he committed to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) to play for head coach Lane Kiffin. He enrolled early in January 2025.
College career
As of the 2025 season, he has appeared in multiple games for the Rebels, recording 13 receptions for 218 yards.
Personal life
Watkins is the cousin of Sammy Watkins, a former Clemson and NFL wide receiver who played for teams including the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Green Bay Packers.[1]
