Winmate Inc. （Chinese: 融程電訊股份有限公司, TWSE：3416) is a Taiwanese industrial computing [1] and embedded systems company. The company designs and manufactures products such as rugged tablet PCs, rugged laptop[2], handheld PC, panel PCs, industrial displays, embedded computers, robotic controllers (ground control stations)[3], and other ruggedized products.[4] The company was founded on January 23, 1996, and develops hardware intended for environments with shock, vibration, temperature variation, and exposure to water or dust[5][6]. Its products are used across sectors such as manufacturing, maritime, defense, transportation, automotive diagnostics, healthcare, petrochemical, and industrial automation.

The company is based in New Taipei, Taiwan[7]New Taipei City and has branch offices and service centers in the United States, Canada, Germany, Poland, China, India, Switzerland, and Japan. It has been publicly listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange since January 23, 2015.[8]

History

Winmate Inc. was founded in 1996 and initially distributed Elo touchscreen products. It later moved into product development and system integration, focusing on embedded systems and wireless technologies.[9] By 2001, the company had launched its first fanless industrial computers that combined touch input and peripheral interfaces.

In September 2007, Winmate was publicly listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE：3416). During this period, the company also obtained approvals from Det Norske Veritas (DNV) for certain marine products and adopted management standards including ISO 14001 for environmental management, and IECQ QC 080000 for hazardous substances management.

From 2010 onwards, Winmate has added subsidiaries outside Taiwan, including TTX Canada Inc. and Winmate Communication Inc. in Atlanta, United States. The company later opened offices and service centres in Europe and Asia. In 2024, Winmate acquired an 80% stake in Germany-based TL Electronic GmbH.[10] In 2025, Winmate announced the acquisition of Swiss firms, Primelco System Device and Primelco Visual Data AG[11][12][13].

Products and certifications

The company manufactures rugged computing devices for regulated and hazardous environments. Certifications include ATEX and IECEx for hazardous areas, IP69K and IP67 for hygienic processing environments[14], and E-mark certified equipment for automotive applications. Winmate also achieved ISO 13485 certification for healthcare-device quality management.[15]

In 2020, Winmate chairman Ken Lu received the EY Entrepreneur Award[16]. That year, the company also entered supply agreements with Mercedes-Benz and Honeywell for rugged tablet applications in vehicle diagnostics and warehouse logistics[17]. By 2023, Winmate had also obtained ISO 45001 certification for occupational health and safety and ISO 27001 certification for information security management. In 2025, the company was included in Business Leaders Review’s “10 Leading Companies to Watch”[18] and CEO Vision’s “10 Innovative CEOs Leading the Change.”[19]

Corporate social responsibility

Winmate publishes reports on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies and performance[20] in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework. The company holds several management system certifications, including ISO 14001 for environmental management, ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, and ISO/IEC 27001 for information security. Its sustainability disclosures note greenhouse gas reduction targets of 52% by 2030 and a goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, with measures focusing on emissions tracking and energy efficiency.[20]

According to the company’s disclosures, an ESG committee oversees planning and compliance activities. Reported initiatives include workplace-equality programmes, employee training, occupational-safety measures, and internal audits. Winmate also reports involvement in academic collaborations, community programmes, and participation in industry associations related to industrial computing and environmental policy.[21][22]
