The Windhoek Super League (WSL) Campaign is phase 1 of newly formed Namibian domestic football campaign which consist of 4 separate competitions namely, WSL Preseason tournament, The Windhoek Super League, WSL Cup and WSL Top 8 Cup respectively, and will be contested by 20 teams.
The campaign was created on October 15th 2019 and officially kicked off on the 25th January 2020 after the Namibian Premier League (NPL), Namibia's top tier league tournament, was put on suspension and 2 years prior to WSL Kick-Off. The campaign starts the final weekend of January and ends Mid November with each team playing 1 game in the preseason tournament, 38 games in the league (19 Home, 19 Away), starting the WSL cup in round of 32 and the top 8 teams come end of the season participate in top 8 cup in knockout-style tournament. Games are played on Saturday (5) and Sunday (5) and sometimes on Wednesday (2) and Fridays (3). The league is a corporation which is owned by the Namibia Sports Group and 20 participating teams. Relegated teams sign over their shares at the Annual General Meeting come end of the season.
The Windhoek Super League has become the 2nd most watched league in Namibia since the [1]suspension of the NPL, only behind The Hopsol Youth League [2] (league created by the greatest Namibian footballer of all time, Collin Benjamin)
Corporate Structure
The Windhoek Super League is operated as a corporations and is owned by Namibia Sports Group and by the 20 member clubs of each season. Each club is a shareholder and has one vote in every major issue that would impact the league campaign.The Namibia Sports Group and Windhoek Super League Committee will oversee the daily operations of the league. The WSL Committee contains the founders of the Namibia Sports Group and 1 representative from each team.
The current chairman and president is co-founder Khama Nakanduungileh and the current vice-chairman and vice-president is co-founder Otto Nakanduungileh
Competition Format
Competitions
WSL Preseason Tournament
Before the start of every season, each team will participate in a charity tournament, where all teams will play 1 match. Teams receive 3 points for a win and 1 point per goal, while 1 point is deducted for every yellow card and 2 points deducted for every red card. A draw is warrant to receive 1 point and no points will be issued for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference, and then goals conceded. Competition Prize money and all money generated from tickets are donated to a charity of the winners choice.
Windhoek Super League
The league kicks off every year 1st of February and will run until mid November. All 20 member teams will compete twice against each team, once at home and another away in a total of 38 matches per season each team. A win is issued 3 points, a draw 1 point and no points for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference, and then goals scored. If points are still levelled, then teams share a position. If there is a tie for the championship or for relegation, a play-off match decides rank.
WSL Cup
The WSL Cup kicks off in May where the 20 participating teams face each other from the round of 32. 8 Teams will start in the the round of 32 and 12 will be seeded to round of 16. Team ranking in the Windhoek Super League will determine which round teams start in as top 12 teams will start in round of 16 and bottom 8 will start from round of the 32.

The top 8 teams of the Windhoek Super League Campaign further compete in a cup in a knockout competition come end of the season.
Promotion & Relegation
A system of promotion and relegation is currently under negotiations between WSL and Otjomuise Soccer league (OSL) where WSL bottom 3 teams will be relegated to OSL and top teams will be promoted to WSL.
