Colonel William R. Hockensmith (born February 21, 1940) is a retired United States Air Force officer who served in a variety of leadership, aviation, and international roles during his career. He is a native of Kansas City, Missouri and a 1962 graduate of William Jewell College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah. In addition, Hockensmith is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College (1973) and the Air War College (1983).[1]
During his career, Hockensmith logged 1,629 hours in the F-100 Super Sabre and completed 300 combat missions during the Vietnam War. He served as Air Attaché to Jordan at the United States Embassy in Amman, where he worked with the Royal Jordanian Air Force. Other notable assignments include Deputy Commander for Operations of the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base, and leadership roles in systems management and communications at Kelly Air Force Base.[2]
