Westhampton Raceway
Westhampton, New York,(1952-2004) [is mentioned in the Wikipedia article “Riverhead Raceway”] Originally called Southampton raceway, being located in the Township of Southampton, New York. "The 66 acres which opened in 1952"[1] was paved two years later. The Drag racing dragstrip was a 1/4 mile dirt drag strip with a 1/4 mile shutdown it also included was a quarter-mile oval Kart racing track both on Old Country Road in Westhampton, eastern Long Island. The track survived for more than 50 years under a variety of names, including Westhampton Drag Strip, Westhampton Raceway (1953-1971), Suffolk County Raceway (1971-1972), Hampton Raceway (1980s), Long Island Dragway (1991-1996), and finally Long Island Motorsports Park (1996-2004).

Raceway history The original owners / developers of the raceway were made up of several partners, two of which Norman C. Jockel (1926-2002) and his brother-in-law Alford R. Brandt (1928-2011) in photos below.[2]
