John Backer (born 23 January 1986), popularly known as Weknewnothing, is an American singer/songwriter. He specializes in emo rap and pop-punk genres and has released three songs till now, all of which have received a great reception.[1]
Weknewnothing is regarded as the genre's fastest-growing music artist based out of L.A., best known for his debut song, Suicide Silence, which has earned him immediate popularity. His latest song, 'between the buried and me'[2] also went viral, and Weknewnothing is currently working to release its music video.
Early life and education
Weknewnothing was born on 23 January 1986 and grew up in Los Angeles. Since he was a kid, Weknewnothing was inclined toward the idea of pursuing a career in the music industry. He was even a part of a neighborhood band. Later, he studied at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, acquiring his graduate degree.
Career
Weknewnothing grew up listening to classic genre-specific artists such as Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, Sleeping With Sirens, New Found Glory, Paramore, and Soasin, whose influence is clearly reflected in his songs. He began his professional career as a musician in 2021, prior to which he was a part of a local band and did freelance projects.
Weknewnothing released his debut song Suicide Silence at the beginning of 2021, which has acquired over 98K views on Youtube and also resulted in hiking up his Spotify[3] following to over 18K. Within a year, Weknewnothing began getting attention for his unique style, releasing two other songs titled Job For A Cowboy and between the buried and me,[4] which have also received a great reception.
