Weiqiang Qian (Chinese: 钱为强, born May 1966), is the current president of the China Academy of Invention Achievement Transformation(CAIAT), vice-chairman of the China Association of Invention (CAI), legal representative of the China Association of Invention (CAI)[1]. Weiqiang Qian graduated from the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program at the National Development Research Institute of Peking University in 2006. He served as the vice-chairman of the Energy Research Institute of the ENN Group (新奥集团). In 2016, he was selected to the China Association of Invention.
Biography
Weiqiang Qian was born in Luoyang, China, in May 1966. Before 2004, he lived and worked in Luoyang as a politician. He served as the vice-minister of the United Front Work Department of Luoyang and the director of the reception office.
In 2004, he was invited by Wang Yusuo to join the ENN Group and served as the president assistant, vice-chairman of the Energy Research Institute of the ENN Group. From 2004-2016, he has promoted the clean energy technology innovation, industrialization practices[2][3], and built series of national scientific research platforms[4][5][6], such as the "Coal-based, Low Carbon Energy Laboratory," "International Science and Technology Cooperation Base," "Postdoctoral Research Workstation."[7] During this period, he lead the team with doctors[8] and 14 academicians from the Thousands Talents Plan. 50 more topics investigated were included in the 973 Program and the 863 Program.
In May 2016, he joined the China Association of Invention and became the vice-chairman (2016-2023, seventh session-nineth session). In April 2017, he became the president of the China Academy of Invention Achievement Transformation (2017-2023).
Personal life
Weiqiang Qian and his wife have 2 children. The elder son Kun Qian studied management in Singapore and joined the ENN Group in China since 2015. The younger son Jin Qian is a current student at McGill University, Faculty of Science.
