Washington Insight Solutions (WIS) is an American psychological assessment practice founded in 2024 and based in Rockville, Maryland. The practice provides psychological, educational, cognitive, developmental, and neuropsychological assessment services for children, adolescents, and adults throughout Maryland and the greater Washington metropolitan area.

Washington Insight Solutions was created as the sister practice of Washington Psychological Wellness (WPW), a multidisciplinary mental health practice founded by clinical psychologist Dr. Leda Kaveh. While WPW primarily provides psychotherapy and related mental health services and continues to perform some psychological assessment, WIS was established to specialize more extensively in comprehensive psychological and educational testing.

The practice provides individualized assessments intended to clarify cognitive, academic, developmental, behavioral, emotional, and diagnostic concerns and to generate practical recommendations for treatment, education, accommodations, and everyday functioning.

History and relationship with Washington Psychological Wellness

Washington Insight Solutions was founded in 2024 as a specialized psychological-assessment practice affiliated with Washington Psychological Wellness.

The two organizations operate as sister practices with complementary areas of emphasis. Washington Psychological Wellness provides psychotherapy, medication services, coaching, and some psychological testing, whereas Washington Insight Solutions concentrates more extensively on comprehensive psychological and educational assessment.

Both organizations were founded by licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Leda Kaveh.

Testing and assessment services

Washington Insight Solutions provides psychological and educational evaluations across the lifespan. Assessments are individualized according to the referral question rather than relying on an identical testing battery for every client.

Its current assessment services include:

  • Comprehensive psychological evaluations, which examine cognitive, emotional, behavioral, academic, and adaptive functioning where appropriate.
  • Psychoeducational evaluations, assessing cognitive abilities and academic skills such as reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • ADHD evaluations, examining attention, executive functioning, behavioral symptoms, cognitive functioning, and possible co-occurring concerns.
  • Autism evaluations, assessing developmental history, communication, social functioning, behavior, adaptive skills, and characteristics associated with autism.
  • Learning-disability testing, including assessment for disorders affecting reading, written expression, mathematics, and related academic skills.
  • Developmental evaluations, examining areas such as communication, learning, behavior, social functioning, and developmental progress.
  • Personality and diagnostic assessments, used to evaluate emotional functioning, behavioral patterns, personality characteristics, and mental health conditions.
  • Cognitive and IQ testing, measuring areas such as reasoning, verbal abilities, working memory, processing speed, and problem solving.
  • Admissions testing, including cognitive assessment for private-school admissions and other educational placement decisions.
  • Gifted and twice-exceptional evaluations, assessing advanced cognitive abilities as well as possible learning, attention, developmental, or other differences that may coexist with giftedness.
  • IEP and Section 504 evaluations, providing assessment information that may be used by schools when considering educational eligibility, accommodations, and support plans.
  • College and standardized-testing accommodation evaluations, including documentation that may support accommodation requests for college disability services and examinations such as the SAT, ACT, PSAT, AP examinations, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, and GMAT.
  • In-school observations, involving structured observation of students in their classroom environment to better understand attention, learning, behavior, social interaction, and response to academic demands.
  • Immigration evaluations, providing psychological evaluations for certain immigration and visa-related applications.
  • Neuropsychological testing, evaluating areas such as attention, memory, executive functioning, processing speed, language, reasoning, visual-spatial functioning, and learning.

Comprehensive psychological evaluations

Comprehensive psychological evaluations integrate information from multiple sources to develop a broader understanding of an individual's functioning.

Depending on the referral question, an evaluation may incorporate clinical interviews, cognitive testing, academic testing, emotional and behavioral measures, adaptive-functioning measures, executive-function assessment, personality measures, developmental history, collateral information, and behavioral observations.

These evaluations may be conducted to clarify concerns involving ADHD, autism, learning disorders, mood and anxiety conditions, developmental differences, cognitive functioning, behavioral difficulties, educational performance, or other psychological concerns.

The resulting report identifies relevant strengths and challenges and provides recommendations based on the individual's particular circumstances.

Psychoeducational and learning-disability evaluations

WIS conducts psychoeducational evaluations for students and adults experiencing academic or learning-related concerns.

Testing may assess intellectual abilities together with achievement in reading, writing, mathematics, and related educational domains. Evaluations can help distinguish between learning difficulties associated with specific learning disorders and challenges related to attention, executive functioning, emotional functioning, or other factors.

Learning-disability evaluations may address conditions such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia.

Results may be used to inform educational intervention, tutoring, academic planning, disability-service applications, or requests for accommodations.

ADHD evaluations

Washington Insight Solutions provides ADHD evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults.

Assessment may include cognitive measures, executive-function testing, clinical interviews, developmental and educational history, standardized behavioral rating scales, and information from parents, teachers, partners, or other collateral sources where appropriate.

The evaluation also considers whether difficulties with attention, organization, impulsivity, emotional functioning, or executive skills may be better explained by or occur alongside another psychological or learning condition.

Autism and developmental evaluations

WIS provides autism assessments across different stages of life, including evaluations for adults seeking diagnostic clarification later in life.

Autism evaluations may include developmental and clinical interviews, standardized autism-related measures, cognitive and emotional assessment, review of educational or developmental history, adaptive-functioning measures, and assessment of social communication and behavior.

Developmental evaluations may also be conducted when there are concerns involving language, social development, learning, behavior, adaptive skills, or broader neurodevelopmental functioning.

Cognitive, gifted, and admissions testing

Washington Insight Solutions provides standardized cognitive and intelligence testing for several purposes.

Cognitive testing may assess verbal reasoning, fluid reasoning, memory, processing speed, problem solving, and other aspects of intellectual functioning.

Such evaluations may be used for private-school admissions, early educational placement, gifted and talented programs, academic planning, or broader psychological assessment.

The practice also evaluates individuals who may be twice exceptional, a term commonly used for people who demonstrate advanced intellectual abilities alongside a learning, attention, developmental, or other disability.

Educational accommodations

WIS conducts evaluations intended to provide clinical documentation that schools, universities, and testing organizations may consider when determining eligibility for accommodations.

Assessments may support applications for:

  • Individualized Education Programs (IEPs);
  • Section 504 plans;
  • school-based academic accommodations;
  • college and university disability services;
  • SAT, ACT, PSAT, and AP examination accommodations; and
  • accommodations for graduate and professional examinations such as the GRE, LSAT, MCAT, and GMAT.

The determination of whether an accommodation is granted remains with the relevant school, institution, or testing organization.

In-school observations

Washington Insight Solutions provides structured in-school observations when understanding a student's behavior in the natural classroom environment would add useful information to an evaluation.

An evaluator may observe areas such as attention, classroom participation, transitions, independent work, peer interaction, responses to instruction, behavior, and environmental demands.

Observation findings may be combined with psychological or psychoeducational testing to help generate recommendations relevant to educational planning and IEP or Section 504 discussions.

Immigration evaluations

Washington Insight Solutions currently lists psychological evaluations for certain immigration and visa-related purposes among its assessment services.

These evaluations are intended to document psychological and emotional functioning relevant to an immigration matter where an appropriate clinical evaluation is requested.

Immigration evaluations are separate from forensic, custody, and court-ordered assessment services.

Neuropsychological testing

Washington Insight Solutions describes part of its assessment work as neuropsychological testing.

These evaluations examine relationships between cognitive functioning and areas such as memory, attention, executive functioning, processing speed, language, learning, reasoning, and visual-spatial abilities.

Neuropsychological assessment may be considered when concerns involve learning and developmental disorders, cognitive changes, executive-function difficulties, neurological factors, or a combination of cognitive and psychological concerns.

Assessment process

Washington Insight Solutions follows an individualized assessment process that generally consists of five stages:

  1. Initial consultation or intake – The psychologist reviews the referral question, relevant history, current concerns, previous evaluations, educational or occupational functioning, and the client's goals for assessment.
  1. Selection of an individualized testing battery – Assessment instruments are selected according to the referral question, age, history, and needs of the individual rather than using the same battery for every client.
  1. Testing sessions – Standardized psychological, cognitive, academic, developmental, emotional, behavioral, or neuropsychological measures are administered as appropriate.
  1. Clinical interpretation and written report – The psychologist scores and interprets the results and integrates them with interview information, history, observations, and other relevant data. Clients receive a comprehensive written report explaining findings and diagnostic impressions where appropriate.
  1. Feedback session and recommendations – Results are reviewed with the client or family. Recommendations may address treatment, education, accommodations, skill development, referrals, or other forms of support.

When appropriate and with authorization, recommendations may also be coordinated with schools, therapists, physicians, or other professionals involved in the individual's care.

Care model

Washington Insight Solutions uses individualized testing batteries based on each client's referral question, history, age, concerns, and goals.

The practice evaluates individuals across the lifespan rather than limiting assessment to pediatric or school-based concerns. Clients include children, adolescents, college students, working-age adults, and older adults where the requested assessment falls within the practice's scope.

Assessments are intended to provide more than a test score or diagnostic label. The process incorporates clinical interpretation of findings and the preparation of a comprehensive written report.

Reports generally include test findings, an integrated explanation of results, diagnostic clarification when appropriate, identified strengths and difficulties, and practical recommendations tailored to the individual.

Recommendations may support:

  • mental health treatment and treatment planning;
  • educational interventions;
  • IEP or Section 504 planning;
  • academic and standardized-testing accommodations;
  • college disability services;
  • workplace accommodations;
  • executive-function or skill-building support;
  • referrals to other healthcare or educational professionals; and
  • strategies for clients and families.

A feedback session is included so clients or families can review the findings, ask questions, and better understand recommended next steps.

Scope of practice

Washington Insight Solutions provides clinical psychological, educational, developmental, and neuropsychological assessment.

The practice states that it does not provide forensic, court-related, or custody-related assessments.

This restriction is distinct from immigration evaluations, which are currently offered as a specific clinical assessment service.

Payment and insurance

Washington Insight Solutions operates primarily as a private-pay and out-of-network psychological assessment practice.

The practice does not directly bill health-insurance plans for psychological testing. Clients may request a superbill containing the information required to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement from their insurer.

WIS also accepts Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) payments for eligible services.

The practice accepts CareCredit as a financing option for eligible assessment expenses.

WIS also provides assistance with the out-of-network reimbursement process. This includes providing necessary documentation and directing clients to reimbursement-support resources that can assist with submitting out-of-network insurance claims.

Insurance reimbursement is dependent on an individual's policy and benefits and is not guaranteed by the practice.

Specific evaluation fees are not included here because costs vary according to the type and scope of assessment and may change over time.

Leadership

Washington Insight Solutions was founded by Dr. Leda Kaveh, a licensed clinical psychologist who serves as its owner and director.

Kaveh also founded Washington Psychological Wellness. Her professional work includes psychotherapy, psychological assessment, clinical supervision, and practice leadership.

She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park and completed graduate and doctoral training in clinical psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology in Washington, D.C.

Rather than listing every current clinician individually, the practice maintains an updated staff directory through its official website.
