Warren Postman is an American attorney who serves as the managing partner and founder of Postman Law, a plaintiffs’ litigation firm with offices in Illinois, Ohio, Colorado, and Minnesota.[1] He is known for his work in the development of mass arbitration and for litigating complex disputes against major corporations.[2] Postman has been recognized by Law360, Chambers and Partners, the National Law Journal, and Lawdragon for his work on behalf of consumers and workers in large-scale litigation.[3]
Early life and education
Postman grew up on a farm in a small town in Vermont. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, magna cum laude, from Brandeis University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.[4] He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he served as an articles editor of the Harvard Law Review.[5]
Following law school, Postman clerked for Judge William A. Fletcher of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and later for Justice David H. Souter of the Supreme Court of the United States.[6] He spent time in China, where he met his wife.
Career
Early career
From 2002 to 2004, Postman worked as a legislative aide to Massachusetts State Senator Steven A. Baddour.[7] After completing his clerkships, he joined Jones Day in 2009 as an associate in the Issues and Appeals practice, where he worked on trial and appellate matters until 2014.[4]
U.S. Chamber of Commerce
In 2014, Postman became senior counsel for litigation at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Litigation Center, the litigation arm of the Chamber.[8] He later advanced to associate chief counsel for litigation and deputy chief counsel for litigation. In 2018, he was promoted to vice president and chief counsel for appellate litigation, overseeing the Chamber’s participation in more than 150 appellate cases each year.[9]
Keller Postman and Postman Law
In 2018, Postman joined Keller Postman LLC as a partner and was named managing partner in 2022.[4] At the firm, he helped develop its arbitration practice, which represented consumers and workers subject to arbitration clauses. By filing large numbers of individual arbitration claims, the practice sought to hold corporate defendants to their contractual terms. The New York Times reported that this approach led some defendants to express significant concern over the strategy’s financial implications.[10]
Under Postman’s leadership, Keller Postman participated in several high-profile matters, including:
- Mallory v. Norfolk Southern Railway Co. (2023), in which the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of consent-by-registration statutes.[6]
- State of Texas v. Meta Platforms Inc. (2022–2024), a privacy lawsuit resulting in a $1.4 billion settlement.[11]
- State of Texas v. Google LLC, ongoing antitrust litigation.[12]
- Camp Lejeune water contamination litigation.[13]
- NEC/infant formula litigation involving premature infants.[14]
These and other matters contributed to significant settlements for hundreds of thousands of clients.[14]
Postman Law
In 2024, Postman founded Postman Law, a plaintiffs’ personal injury firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, with additional offices in Cincinnati, Denver, and Minneapolis–Saint Paul.[1] The firm represents clients in motor vehicle accidents, trucking accidents, workplace injuries, workers’ compensation, medical malpractice, birth injury, wrongful death, product liability, and defective medical devices.[15]
Since its founding, Postman Law and its attorneys have recovered more than $3 billion for clients.[1]
