Vladimir Tate, also known by his birth name Vladimir Borisovich Tiagunov (Russian: Владимир Борисович Тягунов, born September 30, 1989); is a Russian-born solo pianist, chamber music performer, musician and professor of piano. He has gained international recognition as a solo pianist and is best known for winning the first prize in the International music competition”21st Century Art” in Kiev, Ukraine in 2010. He has played throughout the world with concerts and performed solo especially in Spain, Germany, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, and the United States.[1] In 2022, Tate founded the Merrick School of Music in Merrick, NY;[2] In 2023, he established the Long Island Music Magazine.[3]

Tate is an award-winning pianist, particularly known for his unconventional music.[4] He is known for his versatility as a performer, receiving acclaim worldwide as one of Russian’s leading pianists.[5] Tate is seen frequently at the International Music Competitions as a jury member.

Early life and education

Tate was born in Temirtau, Soviet Union (now Temirtau, Kazakhstan). In 1992, his family moved to Nizhny Tagil, Russia, where he started learning piano at the age of six.[6] Tate was later accepted into the Children's Music School, where he gave his first solo recital aged 9. In 2005, Tate joined the Nizhny Tagil College of Arts pre-college program. He graduated with the Diploma of Specialist in Arts from the Chelyabinsk State Academy of Culture and Arts in Russia in 2013. Tate moved to the United States in 2014. In 2016, Tate graduated with an artist diploma in piano performance from Long Island Conservatory of Music in Albertson, New York City.[7]

Career

Tate began his career as a piano professor at the Long Island Conservatory in 2015, and many students of his are Laureates of Piano Competitions. In 2016, Tate started teaching piano lessons and has also been an accompanist in conservatories, music schools, national and international instrumental competitions, as well as in various musical training courses. Tate has given numerous piano recitals as a soloist as well as also performed solo and chamber concerts across Germany, Spain, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, and the United States. Tate has a wide range of recordings from concerts around the world which includes “Wanderer Fantasy” by Schubert, “Op.10 by Chopin”, “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Mussorgsky, and “Appassionata” by Beethoven and others.[8]

Tate served as the member of the jury at the International Music Competitions, including the International Piano Competition at Gould Academy the Long Island Conservatory Soloist Competition, and the Manolov International Music Competition.[9] Upon arriving in the United States, Tate represented Steinway and Sons in showcases at the Smith Haven Mall and the Roosevelt Field (shopping mall)|Roosevelt Field Mall in New York.

Tate has performed on several occasions for recitals at the world's greatest venues, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art Concert Hall, numerous Steinway Halls, Tilles Center, Carnegie Hall, University of F. Chopin Concert Hall (Poland), Bolshoi Concert Hall in Tchaikovsky University (Moscow, Russia), Concert Hall of Chelyabinsk Conservatory (Chelyabinsk, Russia), Concert Hall of Sverdlovsk Philarmonic (Yekaterinburg, Russia), and Concert Hall in Kiev (Ukraine)

In 2022, Tate founded the Merrick School of Music in Merrick, New York, a testament to his dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians. In 2023, he expanded his influence with the establishment of the Long Island Music Magazine, further cementing his role as a prominent figure in the world of music. In addition to his roles at the Merrick School of Music and Long Island Music Magazine, Tate currently holds the position of Parish Music Director at Cure of Arts Church in Merrick, New York, where he regularly showcases his remarkable musical talents.
