Virginia Marston, also referred to as Dr. Virginia Marston and Virginia Marston Martinez (born 1966), is an American board-certified naturopathic doctor and registered nurse in Mexico who founded La Luz Wellness Center, a residential integrative health facility in Chihuahua, Mexico.[1][2] She has practiced in natural and alternative medicine for more than three decades and works as an instructor, lecturer and conference speaker in the field.[1]
Early life and background
Marston began working in holistic health after her infant daughter sustained a brain injury at nine months of age that left her with cerebral palsy and unable to move or speak. Seeking treatment options in the United States, Marston encountered holistic and alternative approaches to care and went on to study them. Her daughter remained bedridden until her death at the age of eighteen.[1] Marston has described this period as the origin of her interest in unconventional therapeutic methods, which she later applied to other patients.[1]
Career
Marston is certified as a naturopathic doctor by an American board and is registered as a nurse in Mexico.[1] Her practice includes neural therapy, family constellation therapy, iridology, membrane medicine nutrition, chiropractic procedures and ozone therapy.[1] She has worked in natural and alternative medicine for more than 30 years.[2]
La Luz Wellness Center
Marston founded La Luz Wellness Center, a residential facility located in a mountain valley in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico.[1][2] The center offers inpatient programs built around detoxification, nutritional support and therapy, and it accepts a limited number of guests at a time with around-the-clock access to care.[2] Its programs address physical, mental, emotional and spiritual factors, including unresolved trauma, dental infections and scar tissue.[2]
The center's clinical staff includes medical director Beatriz Rauber, a pediatrics and intensive care physician trained at the National University of Córdoba, and Lowell I. Gerber, a cardiologist and fellow of the American College of Cardiology.[1]
Teaching and speaking
Marston works as an instructor and lecturer in natural therapies and has appeared as a keynote speaker at conferences in the field.[1]
Personal life
Marston's daughter Mary, who had cerebral palsy following a brain injury in infancy, died at the age of eighteen.[1]
