Victor Gordo (born October 22, 1969) is an American politician who is the mayor of Pasadena, California since 2020. On November 3, 2020, Gordo defeated predecessor Terry Tornek in a runoff election for the office of List of Mayors of Pasadena, California.[1] Gordo began his service to the City of Pasadena in 1997, when he was appointed as the field representative for District 5 by then-Vice Mayor Bill Crowfoot. [2]
Early Life
On October 22, 1969, Gordo was born in the Mexico state of Zacatecas. Gordo immigrated to the United States with his parents at a young age.
Education
Gordo became the first person in his family to attend college when he enrolled at Pasadena City College. He later continued his education, studying business management and finance at Azusa Pacific University. Gordo later attended law school at night, studying at the University of La Verne College of Law. Gordo passed the California Bar Exam in July of 2001.
Career
Gordo is the longest-serving president of the Rose Bowl (stadium)|Rose Bowl Operating Company. In this role, Gordo led the famous Rose Bowl stadium through a successful renovation.[3] Some of Gordo's focuses as a local leader include quality of life issues, opposing overdevelopment, fighting crime, championing a living wage, increasing government transparency, getting rid of problem liquor stores and replacing them with affordable housing, and taking back local parks.
Personal Life
Gordo is married to his wife Kelly and has two children, Michael and Emma.
