Velguem is a small village of 324 hectares in Satari Tehsil in North Goa district, known and rated to have the best quality of life in India (based on the commission’s “12 Indicators”)[2] in the state of Goa, India.[3] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Velguem depends on PALE, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[4] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and One spring. Velguem is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Velguem's pin code is 403506[5], and village code is 00010700. The area of Velguem is segregated as 35.52 hectares irrigated area, 62.01 hectares unirrigated, the 32.2 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 83.99 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Velguem has One post office (Velguem O B.O) and Four public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Velguem has One bank and One credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with One recreational center.

Velguem is a census village in the district of North Goa, Goa. The village has a total population of 2617 and has total administration over 616 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of PALE and North Goa to sell iron ore and make their living.
