The University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM) is a significant public medical school that is situated in Seattle, Washington, in the northwest region of the United States. It is connected to the University of Washington. The University of Washington School of Medicine was rated number one in the country for primary care education and number seven for research in the 2022 rankings of the Best Graduate Schools published by U.S. News & World Report.

The University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM) is the first publicly funded medical school in the states of Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho. Across the five states, the educational institution has a network of teaching institutions in more than one hundred different towns and cities. As part of the "WWAMI" partnership, medical students from the states of Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho each spend the first year and a half of their education at either the University of Wyoming, the University of Alaska Anchorage, Montana State University, or the University of Idaho, respectively. In addition, sixty of the students enrolled in each session are from Gonzaga University, which is located in Spokane, Washington. Residents of the WWAMI states are given preference over non-residents.
