The University of Ilorin, usually referred to as Unilorin, is a university located in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. It is wholly owned and operated by the federal government. In August of 1975, a directive issued by the federal military administration first laid the groundwork for its establishment. The establishment's goal was to put into action one of the educational directives outlined in the Third National Development Plan. This directive was designed to increase the number of possibilities available to Nigerians who aspired to get a degree from a university and to produce high-level workforce, both of which are essential for the economy's fast expansion. The university encompasses around 15,000 hectares of land, which places it among the higher education establishments in the nation with one of the greatest land expanses. According to JAMB's projections, in the year 2021, it would be the university in Nigeria that attracts the most applicants.
