In the county of Hertfordshire, located in the United Kingdom, there is a public institution known as the University of Hertfordshire (UH). The majority of the university's operations are conducted from its location in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. Its predecessor, Hatfield Technical College, was established in 1948, and in 1959 it was recognised as one of the 25 Colleges of Technology in the United Kingdom. The British government elevated Hatfield Polytechnic to the status of a university in 1992, and the institution was subsequently rebranded as the University of Hertfordshire. It is a university that was founded after the year 1992.

The majority of Hertfordshire's operations are conducted at two campuses: College Lane and de Havilland. It has about 25,130 students, including over 5,200 foreign students who together represent 100 nations as of the year 2021. With approximately 2,700 staff employees, including 812 academic members of staff, the university is one of the major employers in the county of Hertfordshire. It generates more than 235.0 million in revenue per year.
