Umut Aral (born 26 June 1976) is a Turkish film director, producer, and screenwriter.[1] best known for the Netflix Original The Protector (Turkish TV series).[2][3][4][5], Love 101 (TV series) [6][7] and his feature debut on esports 'Good Game: The Beginning'[8][9][10].

Biography

He attended Galatasaray High School and studied management at Boğaziçi University.

He is an established director in the commercial world[11], winning numerous awards and being screened throughout the world with his work for clients such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Mercedes-Benz, McDonald's, Nivea, Vodafone[12], Unilever[13], Nestlé[14] Nutricia[15] and QMobile[16], among many others.

He directed a docudrama for Galatasaray S.K. in European football.[17]

In 2020 he directed 4 episodes for the final season of Netflix's Love 101 (TV series)[18].

Aral has been a speaker and educator, invited as a guest speaker to global organizations like Young Presidents' Organization and by universities to run workshops on filmmaking[19].

Umut Aral is The Chairman of Board of Members of Mithat Alam Education Foundation and Mithat Alam Film Center[20] - a cinematheque, a prestigious cultural center in Istanbul. The Center hosts world cinema icons like Ian McKellen, Sean Connery, Claire Denis and Gus Van Sant for private seminars and screenings. [21][22]

His latest work List of Netflix original programming Yakamoz S-245 will be streamed globally on April 20th 2022[23][24]. Yakamoz S-245 is the spin-off of the well known Netflix Belgian Apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction sci fi drama show Into the Night (TV series)[25].
