In 2006, Sak followed a professorship with the Department of Special Education at Anadolu University. From 2007 to 2010, he led a TUBITAK project in cooperation with Anadolu University on the identification and education of gifted students. The project led to the foundation of the Research Center for High-Ability Education (ÜYEP).

In 2012, Sak advised Turkish parlementars on a national strategic plan on the education of gifted students [4] and led a working group in the development of the national strategic plan on the education of gifted students organized by the Turkish Ministry of Education and Çocuk Vakfı [5].

In 2015, Sak began a nationwide project supported by Anadolu University and the Turkish Ministry of Education to develop, test and norm the first Turkish intelligence scale. Completed in 2017, the Anadolu Sak Intelligence Scale became the first national intelligence scale[6].

In 2018, as a Principal Investigator, Sak worked with a team of researchers and teachers to develop the first national curriculum for K12 gifted students in Turkey[7]. This project was funded by the Turkish Ministry of Education and operated by TUBITAK and completed in 2018. However, the curriculum has never been used in schools due to political changes in the Ministry of Education.

Honors and awards

Sak was endowed a visiting professorship at the University of Western Ontario and a fellowship by TUBITAK in 2020. He received a graduate scholarship from the Turkish Ministry of Education for his graduate education in the USA in 1999.
