Twana Livette Sparks (twǎ' nǎ lĭv ĕt' spǎrks) is a physician, author, activist, musician and stand-up comic. She practiced ear, nose and throat surgery for 30 years in southwest New Mexico, and began providing medical aid in dying (MAID) in 2022.[1] MAID is legal in 10 states and the District of Columbia as of 2021. [2]

She is active promoting the equal rights amendment, reproductive rights. environmental protection, immigration reform that allows refugees and asylum seekers access to citizenship, universal health care and animal rights.

Her books have focused primarily on recording oral history including tuberculosis patients before antibiotic was available, Ping Pong Balls and Donkey's Milk, a history of tuberculosis in Fort Bayard, New Mexico[3]and the experience of medical aid in dying In Passing, stories of medical aid in dying. [4]

She published an account of medical school entitled Diary of a Hippocrate [5]and illustrated a children's book called The Land of Nutrition Valley,[6] an analogy of injustice by Preonn McDaniel.

She has performed as for singing comedienne Mona Little since 2005 for local fundraisers.
