Torrey Peters is an American author and avid motorcyclist. She is based in Brooklyn, New York.[1] Peters debut novel, Detransition, Baby, is set to be published by Penguin Random House in early 2021.

Early life and education

Peters grew up in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Iowa with an MFA and from Dartmouth College with an MA in Comparative Literature.

Retrieved 2020-11-27.</ref> "The Masker" is about a sissy as they contemplate transitioning from male to female.[1] Set in a dystopian future where bioterrorism has destroyed the body's ability to produce sex hormones, "Infect Your Friends and Loved Ones," follows “Patient Zero” and their cat-and-mouse relationship with Lexi, a working-class, gun-obsessed trans girl.[2] "Glamour Boutique," Peters third novella explores a casual Craigslist encounter at a crossdressers’ boutique store.[1] She has written reviews for a breadth of transgender and gender non-conforming authors, such as Janet Mock, Akwaeke Emezi, and Casey Plett, who've published books through Arsenal Pulp Press, Metonymy, and Topside Press.[3] Peters debut novel, "Detransition, Baby," will be published by Penguin Random House in early 2021.The humorous novel follows Reese, a trans woman longing to be a mother by sleeping with married men; Ames, previously Amy; and Katrina, a Chinese Jewish woman who is several months pregnant with Ames’s child. Ames suggests that Katrina let Reese assist in raising the baby with them, because he will be unable to fully be present as a “father.”[4][5] Actress and model Hari Nef has praised the novel for its pulpy originality.[6]
